The Fear of the Lord
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“The
LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high; He will fill Zion with His justice and
righteousness. He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of
salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this
treasure.” Isaiah 33v5-6 (NIV)
Justice,
righteousness, a sure foundation for our times, a rich store of salvation,
wisdom and knowledge are things that sound great to have. However, the Bible
tells us that the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure. The Amplified
version says “… the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is your treasure and
His.” The fear of the Lord is seen here as something God treasures, and
something that should be our treasure as well. What is the fear of the Lord?
Job 28v28 (TLB) says “And this is what He says to all mankind: ‘Look, to fear
the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’” Psalm 111v10
(AMP) says “The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of
Wisdom and skill [the preceding and the first essential, the prerequisite and
the alphabet]; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do
[the will of the Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever.” Beloved, to fear
the Lord is wise! It is real wisdom. It is the first essential and the
prerequisite! I don’t know if you have started questioning what the essence and
benefits there are in serving the Lord. David also fell into that trap as we
see in Psalm 73. The Word of God says:
Supplementary Text
“Let
not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the reverent and worshipful fear
of the Lord all the day long. For surely there is a latter end [a future and a
reward], and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off.” Proverbs 23v17-18
(AMP)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for You are my God. I worship You and ask that You will give unto
