Heart Check
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Bible
tells us that things that were written aforehand were written for us to learn
(Romans 15v4). While we learn from those men and women of faith, we can also
learn from those who were rejected, one of them was Eliab.
Primary Text
“And
it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely
the LORD’s anointed is before Him. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on
his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him:
for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance,
but the LORD looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16v6-7 (KJV)
We
see from Eliab that God is interested in the thoughts and intentions of our
hearts. Beloved, what is the state of your heart? Is it acceptable to God? You
might be appreciated and praised by man, your boss, your pastor, family,
parents or even yourself, but God is the One who is the righteous Judge. 2
Corinthians 10v18 (AMP) says “For [it is] not [the man] who praises and
commends himself who is approved and accepted, but [it is the person] whom the
Lord accredits and commends.” Do you have God’s accreditation? Saul was still
sitting in the place of the king, but he had lost God’s approval; the LORD
haven already anointed someone else in his place. You might physically be in a
certain “position” but in the eyes of the One who counts, where do you stand?
Supplementary Text
“So
do not make any hasty or premature judgments before the time when the Lord
comes [again], for He will both bring to light the secret things that are [now
hidden] in darkness and disclose and expose the [secret] aims (motives and
purposes) of hearts. Then every man will receive his [due] commendation from
God.”
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for Your Word. Please shine Your light in my heart, and purge out wrong
motives, intentions, and sin that are lodged there in Jesus name, amen. Make me
acceptable in Your eyes in Jesus name, amen.
