Alive but dead!
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And
unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith He that hath
the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast
a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things
which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect
before God.” Revelations 3v1-2 (KJV)
How
can someone be known to be alive, and yet be dead? We know that God is a Spirit
and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4v24).
It is possible to be alive physically, but your relationship with God is dead.
As believers we are likened to salt and told that if the salt loses its flavor,
of what use is it? Are you losing your flavor? One way a believer becomes dead,
is when he becomes removed from the Vine. John 15v1-2 (KJV) says “I am the true
Vine, and My Father is the Husbandman. Every branch in Me that beareth not
fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that
it may bring forth more fruit.” It is an awful thing for the Father Himself to
take you out of the Vine. You are disconnected. But how does a believer become
unfruitful so much that the Father removes him or her? We find that to be
fruitful, one has to stay connected to Jesus. John 15v5 (AMP) says “I am the
Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much
(abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you
can do nothing.” How do you stay connected to Jesus? By dwelling in Him,
letting His words abide in you, praying, fellowshipping with other believers.
Beloved, please stay connected that you may not be cut off.
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word. We pray for a divine assessment today, that You
would search us. Help us to know if we are still connected. Help us never to
deceive ourselves and others, thinking we are fine when we are not. Grant us
the grace to stay connected to the Vine in Jesus name, amen.
