Help in time of need
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And
the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His
tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; …” John 1v14 (AMP)
In
the old testament days, the children of Israel had a high priest who would make
atonement for the sins that they had committed. That priest may not really
understand or be sympathetic to what the sinner had done; or had thought of
doing or was currently experiencing. But we have a High Priest – Jesus – who is
compassionate and merciful. One who wants us to come to Him when we are
burdened, heavy laden and in need of help; One who understands what we are
going through. Beloved, ponder on these verses: “And it was necessary for Jesus
to be like us, His brothers, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High
Priest before God, a Priest who would be both merciful to us and faithful to
God in dealing with the sins of the people. For since He Himself has now been
through suffering and temptation, He knows what it is like when we suffer and
are tempted, and He is wonderfully able to help us” (Hebrews 2v17-18, TLB). Oh
how wonderful this is. The Amplified version puts it this way: “So it is evident that it was essential that
He be made like His brethren in every respect, in order that He might become a
merciful (sympathetic) and faithful High Priest in the things related to God,
to make atonement and propitiation for the people’s sins. For because He
Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He
is able [immediately] to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are
being tempted and tested and tried [and who therefore are being exposed to
suffering]” Hebrews 2v17-18 (AMP). We see therefore that when we are being
tempted or tested all we need to do is to cry out to Him and He would come and
help us. Let us get rid of every thinking that makes us believe God is out
there, waaaaaaaaay up there in heaven, waiting to knock us on the head for
every wrong doing. No, He wants to help us and enable us to make the right
decisions each time to the glory of His name.
Prayer
Why
don’t you call out to Him today?
