My Reputation!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“To the leader of the church in Sardis write this letter: “This message is sent to you by the One who has the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars. “I know your reputation as a live and active church, but you are dead.” Revelations 3v1-2 (KJV)

A reputation is “the word which refers to the position one occupies or the standing that one has in the opinion of others, in respect to attainments, integrity, and the like” (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/reputation?s=t). However, we find that one’s reputation in the sight of men, might be quite different from how God sees the person; for man can give us a satisfactory mark, while in the eyes of God we are not doing well. Here, the church in Sardis is known to be alive, but were dead. What reputation do you have? Perhaps others are saying, like the prophet Samuel said of Eliab when he was asked to anoint a king in Jesse’s house – surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him. “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16v6-7). Instead, Samuel was led to anoint David. What made God reject Saul and require a new king? What made David stand out among others? Let’s hear the Lord’s account of the two. Of Saul God said “I regret making Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not performed My commands…” (1 Samuel 15v11, AMP). Acts 13v21-22 (NIV) on the other hand says “Then the people asked for a king, and He gave them Saul son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled forty years. After removing Saul, He made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; He will do everything I want him to do.’” What is God’s testimony concerning you?

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your Word. We pray for a divine assessment today, that You would search us. Help us to know if we are still connected. Help us never to deceive ourselves and others, thinking we are fine when we are not. May I receive Your divine approval in Jesus name, amen.
