The Gift of Prophecy (3)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“To another the working of miracles, to another prophetic insight (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose); …” 1 Corinthians 12v10 (AMP)

We thank God for the gift of prophecy and prophetic utterances. However, because there are false prophecies, a child of God must be discerning about what is a prophecy from the Lord and what is not. 1 Thessalonians 5v20&21 (AMP) says “Do not spurn the gifts and utterances of prophets [do not depreciate prophetic revelations nor despise inspired instruction or exhortation or warning]. But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast.” Apart from the fact that a true prophecy will always come to pass, prophecies must also be in line with the Word of God. Be very wary of prophecies that begin to tell you things that are not in line with the Word of God. Do not allow a false prophet to use fear to make you do something that God disapproves us. Also, do not have itching ears, do not follow someone because they say what you want to hear. But for each situation, you need to know what is God saying? The Bible says:

Supplementary Text
“Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as a preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching. For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.” 2 Timothy 4v2-4 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word and Your ways. We thank You for how You continue to speak to us. We thank You for being our God. We pray that You will help us to be discerning about prophetic utterances, to judge that which is of You and that which is not, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
