The Gift of the Working of Miracles (5)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“To
another the working of miracles; …” 1 Corinthians 12v10 (KJV)
“He
gives one person the power to perform miracles, …” 1 Corinthians 12v10 (NLT)
Another
reason why God might give the gift of the performing of miracles is “to
demonstrate the supremacy of God over human impossibilities and to show people
that God can do anything” (Adeboye, 1997, p. 108). Have you ever heard of a
miracle or experienced one yourself and thought – this could only be God. Our
God is the most High God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the God of all
flesh, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the God of gods, the King of
glory, the Lord of hosts, the I AM that I AM, the soon coming King, the One who
says a thing and it is done. Who else can cause a woman who has passed
menopause to have a child, or a virgin to be with child? Who else can bring
water from a rock, and cause the sea to part so that people can walk on it? Who
else can raise the dead? Who else can make a living person a new creature and
it will be evident to all that a great change has occurred in the life of that person?
Only the one true God. Therefore, in order to show His supremacy and that He is
the God who specializes in the impossible, God might cause miracles to be
performed.
Supplementary Text
“Jesus
said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith
unto Him, Lord, by this time, he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe,
thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the
place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, Father,
I thank Thee that Thou hast heard Me. And I knew that Thou hearest Me always:
but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that
Thou hast sent Me. And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice,
Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes:
and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him,
and let him go. Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the
things which Jesus did, believed on Him.” John 11v39-45 (KJV)
Prayer
Our
Father in heaven, we thank You because You are a wonder working God. Thank You for
the gift of the working of miracles. We pray that You will release this gift to
Your church, that there will be miracles, signs and wonders, that Your church
will be purified, Your name be glorified, the fear of the Lord will be among
unbelievers and souls will be won to Your kingdom in Jesus name we pray, amen.
