The Word of Knowledge (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“To
one is given in and through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] a message of
wisdom, and to another [the power to express] a word of knowledge and
understanding according to the same [Holy] Spirit;” 1 Corinthians 12v8 (AMP)
Another
gift of the Spirit is the gift of the word of knowledge. As we see in 1
Corinthians 12v7, “The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a
means of helping the entire church.” And we can covet and desire earnestly
these gifts (1 Corinthians 12v30). Continuing from the book I was reading, here
are some more reasons (please refer to yesterday’s encouragement for some other
reasons) which were highlighted for why God gives the word of knowledge
include:
1.
To
guide God’s own people towards a particular place or journey. For example
Ananias was told where to find Saul and what to do (Acts 9v10-12), while
Cornelius was directed on where to find Peter (Acts 10v1-10).
2.
To
encourage His servants and to give them good tidings before they happen. For
example Elijah was encouraged to know that there were 7000 other prophets who
had been hidden by God who had not bowed down to Baal (1 Kings 19v9-18), and
was given information that there would be rain even when there was no cloud in
the sky (1 Kings 18v41).
3.
To
tell His servants that He wants to perform signs and wonders.
4.
To
deliver His children and make them victorious.
Supplementary Text
“And
there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the
Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord
said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and
enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he
prayeth, And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting
his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.” Acts 9v10-12 (KJV)
Prayer
Are
you born again and desire the gift of the word of knowledge? Pray to God for
it.
