The gift of prophecy
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Happy Sunday
to you.
Primary Text
“To
another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; …” 1 Corinthians 12v10
(KJV)
“To
another the working of miracles, to another prophetic insight (the gift of
interpreting the divine will and purpose); …” 1 Corinthians 12v10 (AMP)
Another
gift that the Holy Spirit gives, is the ability to prophecy. This gift “is
supernatural utterance in the native tongue (1 Cor. 14:3). It is a miracle of
divine utterance, not conceived by human thought or reasoning…. It includes
speaking unto men to edification, and exhortation and comfort (1 Cor. 14:3)”
(Dakes Concordance). 1 Corinthians 14v3 (NLT) saying “But one who prophesies
strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them.” This gift is a vocal
gift being that it is something, which is spoken. It could be used to tell
about things that would occur in the future that man would in their own
imagination not know. Hebrews 1v1-2 (NIV) says “In the past God spoke to our
ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these
last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things,
and through whom also He made the universe.” For example the prophets foretold
about the coming of our Lord Jesus. Romans 1v12 (NIV) tells us “Paul, a servant
of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God – the
gospel He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy
Scriptures.”
Supplementary Text
“Because
of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed
by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their
words are like a lamp shining in a dark place – until the Day dawns, and Christ
the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy
in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human
initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke
from God.” 1 Peter 1v19-21 (NLT)

continuing to speak to us through Your Word, Your Spirit, Your prophets,
situations…. Thank You for the relationship that has been made possible with
You through our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for everything King of glory in
Jesus name we pray, amen.
