Faith in God – In His Power
Dearly
beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We continue our
study on 2 Timothy 1v5 (AMPC), where Paul writes to Timothy that “I am calling
up memories of your sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire
personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power,
wisdom, and goodness), [a faith] that first lived permanently in [the heart of]
your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am [fully] persuaded,
[dwells] in you also].”
Power
can be defined as “the ability or capacity to do something or act in a
particular way.” It can also mean “the capacity or ability to direct or
influence the behaviour of others or the course of events.” Timothy here is
described as having absolute trust in God’s power. God is known as the
omnipotent God – the all powerful God; and with Him nothing is impossible. That
is, He is able to do all things and can do all things. Once He shuts a door, no
man can open it; once He says a thing, it is done. Why do you doubt or fear? It
might be because you do not trust in God’s power. We need to have absolute trust
and confidence in the power of God, in His ability to get things done. When we
pray, we need to be confident of the God who can answer our prayers.
Prayer
Our
Heavenly Father, we thank You for You are all powerful. We thank You for You
said fear not, for You are with us, and we should not be dismayed for You are
our God. You said You will strengthen us, You will help us and uphold us with
the right hand of Your righteousness. Because You are all powerful Lord, we can
rest and be confident in Your promises, and we do so today. Forgive us for
times we have doubted Your power o God. We rest in You and declare we have absolute
trust and confidence in Your power in Jesus name, amen.
