Faith in God – In His Goodness (2)

Dearly beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We continue our study on 2 Timothy 1v5 (AMPC), where Paul writes to Timothy that “I am calling up memories of your sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), [a faith] that first lived permanently in [the heart of] your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am [fully] persuaded, [dwells] in you also].”

God is good, and we ought to have absolute trust and confidence not only in His power and His wisdom, but also in His goodness. One way in which this plays out is to trust that He has your best interest at heart. Jeremiah 29v11 (New Century Version) says “I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.” We do not know what tomorrow holds, but we can trust in God’s goodness to give us a good future. Let Matthew 7v7-11 (KJV) encourage you: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” Evil people know how to give good things to theirs, how much more a loving, heavenly Father who already demonstrated His love by sending someone else to pay the price for our misdeeds?

Prayer
Father, we thank You because You are a good God who has good plans and a good future for us. We thank You because You do not tire of hearing from us and we can and ought to come to You always to meet our needs. How good You are. We are grateful. We put our trust in Your power, Your wisdom and Your goodness and we know that we are blessed for doing that. Help us to be a light now more than ever before, in Jesus name, amen.
