You have not, because you ask not (5)
Dearly beloved, I
trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for another day
which He has given to us. We continue looking at James 4v2 (NCV) which says “… You do not get what you want, because you
do not ask God.” Beloved, let us always ask God, and ask Him confidently and boldly.
One reason we can do this is because we have Jesus, our High Priest who
understands what we are going through and who cares for us. Hebrews 4v14-16 (KJV)
says “Seeing then
that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the
Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling
of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without
sin. Let us therefore come boldly
unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in
time of need.”
In addition, God
says we should have confidence in the fact that He will answer us, once we ask
in accordance to His will. 1 John 5v14-15 (KJV) tells us “And this is the confidence
that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he
heareth us: And if we know that he hear
us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of
him.”
Amen. God’s Word tells us about the things that please Him. We know for example
that He wants us: to ask and that He gives good things to His children (Matthew
7); to be persistent in prayer (Luke 18); to cast our cares on Him (1 Peter
5v7). We know also that He has given us His Holy Spirit to help us in prayer
and to pray according to His will (See text below). So beloved, ask God, ask
God and keep on asking God. Hallelujah.
Prayer
Father, thank You for
Your love for us. Thank You for we can come to You with our requests, any time
and every time. We truly appreciate this privilege. Help us always to remember
to ask You and to pray in line with Your will in Jesus name, amen.
Supplementary Text
“So too the [Holy] Spirit comes
to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know
what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought,
but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads
in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too
deep for utterance.
And He Who
searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what
His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads
[before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in
harmony with God’s will.” Romans 8v26-27 (AMPC)
