Faith in God – In His Goodness
Dearly beloved, I
trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We continue our study on 2
Timothy 1v5 (AMPC), where Paul writes to Timothy that “I am calling up memories
of your sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire personality
on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and
goodness), [a faith] that first lived permanently in [the heart of] your
grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am [fully] persuaded,
[dwells] in you also].”
Our God is a good
God, a very good God, and we need to have absolute trust and confidence in His
goodness. Goodness can be defined as the state or quality of being good; moral
excellence; virtue; kindly feeling; kindness; generosity; excellence of
quality; the best part of anything; essence; strength. Our God is all this and
so much more. Psalm 34v8 (AMPC) says “O taste and see that the Lord [our God]
is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and
takes refuge in Him." We are being invited to taste of the Lord - to try
Him out, to test the Lord and you will experience for yourself that He is good.
Now, more than ever before, we all need to know and experience the goodness of
God. I have tasted and continue to know and experience the goodness of God. I
don't know what you are going through today, but I invite you to take it to the
Lord, and give the Lord a try. Others may have failed you, situations may seem
bleak, but taste of the Lord today and you will see that He is good.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we
thank You because You are good. For many of us, we have experienced Your
goodness and continue to experience it. You are a good Father and we are
grateful. We put our trust in Your power, Your wisdom and Your goodness and we
know that we are blessed for doing that. Help us to be a light now more than
ever before, in Jesus name, amen.
