Faith in God – Trusting with our Personality
Dearly
beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. A happy new month
to you. I pray each day will resound with joy and thanksgiving in Jesus name,
amen. In 2 Timothy 1v5 (AMPC), Paul writes to Timothy that “I am calling up
memories of your sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire
personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power,
wisdom, and goodness), [a faith] that first lived permanently in [the heart of]
your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am [fully] persuaded,
[dwells] in you also].”
I find the idea of leaning of one’s
entire personality on God worth taking a closer look at. Synonyms for
personality include character, persona, temperament and nature. In a sense,
regardless of our inclination, or character, or personality, we trust God. We
trust God with who we are and all we are. Isaiah 26:3-4 (AMPC) says “You will guard
him and keep him in perfect and constant
peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You,
because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently
in You. So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope
confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock
of Ages].” Amen.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for You are
dependable. We know that we cannot please You without faith, and today we commit
ourselves into Your hands. We give You our lives, our plans, our hopes – I mean,
we belong to You. Use us for the glory of Your name. We trust in You o God and
we know You are able to keep all that is committed into Your hand. Thank You
heavenly Father, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
