Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“[You
behave as if] you are already filled and think you have enough [you are full
and content, feeling no need of anything more]! Already you have become rich
[in spiritual gifts and graces]! [Without any counsel or instruction from us,
in your conceit], you have ascended your thrones and come into your kingdom
without including us! And would that it were true and that you did reign, so
that we might be sharing the kingdom with you!” 1 Corinthians 4v8 (AMP)
“Already
you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have begun to reign –
and that without us! How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we
also might reign with you!” 1 Corinthians 4v8 (NIV)
In
this verse of Scripture, Paul continues his letter to the Corinthians, and he
seems to make a distinction between what the Corinthians think or feel they
have and have become and what the reality is. It’s kind of like the church in
Laodicea whom the “Amen, the trusty and faithful and true Witness, the Origin
and Beginning and Author of God’s creation:” (Revelations 3v14, AMP) had a
message for the angel of that church for (see below). They thought they were
rich and had prospered, but the Lord was seeing them in a different light. In
fact He said they had become lukewarm! Like the Corinthians whom Paul was
saying they thought they had all that they wanted and had become rich. Beloved,
let us search ourselves, have we become comfortable and thinking we are fine?
What is the Lord really saying about you? Paul as the spiritual father of the
church was saying, you have begun to reign, without us. Let us search ourselves
dear ones, and may we have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to us in
Jesus name, amen.
Supplementary Text
“I
know your [record of] works and what you are doing; you are neither cold nor
hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm and neither
cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth! For you say, I am rich; I have
prospered and grown wealthy, and I am in need of nothing; and you do not
realize and understand that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire,
that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep
the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that
you may see. Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and
convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them].
So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing
your mind and attitude]. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears
and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and
will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me. He who overcomes (is victorious),
I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was
victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne. He who is able to
hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies
(churches).” Revelations 3v15-22 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for Your Word, and I thank You that You chastise those You love.
Father, search me, point out and purge out every lukewarmness in me O God. Make
me hot and on fire for You again, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
