Self-deceivers
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank You
for His goodness, faithfulness, and lovingkindness. The Bible says:
Primary Text
“Let
no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this
age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and
recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and
scholarship], that he may become [really] wise.” 1 Corinthians 4v18 (AMP)
“Don’t
fool yourself. Don’t think that you can be wise merely by being up-to-date with
the times.” 1 Corinthians 4v18 (MSG)
God’s
word will always ring true that – “The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is
the beginning of Wisdom and skill [the preceding and the first essential, the
prerequisite and the alphabet]; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have
all those who do [the will of the Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever.”
(Psalm 111v10, AMP). Child of God, are you beginning to deceive yourself? Are
you listening to the word of God but being a hearer but not a doer and so
deceiving yourself (James 1v22). There was a time that some of the disciples of
Jesus found his teaching hard (see John 6v60-69 below). Regardless of what you
are going to, stay with God. You will never regret it! Proverbs 4v18 (NIV) says
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till
the full light of day.” Don’t do things like the world does. Be encouraged!
Supplementary Text
“On
hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can
accept it?” Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to
them, “Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to
where He was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The
words I have spoken to you – they are full of the Spirit and life. Yet there
are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning
which of them did not believe and who would betray Him. He went on to say,
“This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has
enables them.” From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer
followed Him. “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of
eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that You are the Holy One of
God.” John 6v60-69 (NIV)
