The Horn of my Salvation
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His goodness, faithfulness, loving kindness and tender mercies.
Primary Text
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my
strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation…”
God is the Horn of our salvation.
The horn “is often used metaphorically to signify strength and honor, because
horns are the chief weapons and ornaments of the animals which possess them;
hence they are also used as a type of victory … Horns are emblems of power,
dominion, glory, and fierceness, as they are the chief means of attack and
defence with the animals endowed with them … The expression “horn of
salvation,” applied to Christ, means a salvation of strength, or a strong
Saviour…” (http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/horn/). We see this in Luke
1v68-69 (AMP) which says “Blessed (praised and extolled and thanked) be the
Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come and brought deliverance and
redemption to His people! And He has raised up a Horn of salvation [a mighty
and valiant Helper, the Author of salvation] for us in the house of David His
servant –“ Thank God for Jesus, the Horn of our salvation, who came to save us
from our sins and destroy the works of the devil. Matthew 1v21 (AMP) saying
“She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus [the Greek form of the
Hebrew Joshua, which means Savior], for He will save His people from their sins
[that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life,
which is God].”
Supplementary Text
“But – “When God our Savior
revealed His kindness and love, He saved us, not because of the righteous
things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving
us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3v4-6 (NLT)
Prayer
Father, we thank You for the
salvation of our souls. Jesus, Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the
world, we thank You and honour You our Saviour.
