Whose Knowledge?

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“The woman saith unto Him, Sir, I perceive that Thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe Me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.” John 4v19-23 (KJV)

In this conversation, we see different types of knowledge of worship. First, the Samaritan forefathers – they knew to worship God in “this mountain”. Second, the Samaritan woman – had knowledge passed on to her from her forefathers. Third, the Jews – they believed you worshipped God in Jerusalem. Fourth, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who highlighted: Samaritans, you do not even know who you are worshipping; Jews: you know who you are worshipping because salvation comes from you. However, a change has come – God is looking for a different type of worshipper. Beloved, you might have some knowledge about God which might have been passed on to you, might be mistaken, or you might even be on the right path, but there is more to know about Him.

Supplementary Text
“Do you want more and more of God’s kindness and peace? Then learn to know Him better and better. For as you know Him better, He will give you, through His great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: He even shares His own glory and His own goodness with us!” 2 Peter 1v2-3 (NLT)

Prayer
Father, please grant me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, that I might know You more in Jesus name, amen.
