Before the day of the Lord comes (2)

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text

“Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition), Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and insolently against and over all that is called God or that is worshiped, [even to his actually] taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God. Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you these things? ” 2 Thessalonians 2v3-5 (AMP)

Apart from the apostasy that would come, there would also be the revelation of the man of lawlessness also called the son of perdition, or the antichrist before the day of the Lord comes. About him 2 Thessalonians 2v6-9 (TLB) says “And you know what is keeping him from being here already; for he can come only when his time is ready. As for the work this man of rebellion will do when he comes, it is already going on, but he himself will not come until the one who is holding him back steps out of the way. Then this wicked one will appear, whom the Lord Jesus will burn up with the breath of his mouth and destroy by His presence when He returns. This man of sin will come as Satan’s tool, full of satanic power, and will trick everyone with strange demonstrations, and will do great miracles.” From these verses, we see that there is a particular time for him to come and for now he is being restrained from coming and manifesting himself. However, the kind of work he will do is already ongoing. The Amplified says “For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world,…” while the King James Version says “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:…” (v7). But at a time, the lawless one himself, the antichrist would be revealed. This lawless man would basically work as satan’s instrument, doing his work. He would try to deceive with the demonstration of power, signs, miracles and wonders. But we know that when the Lord Jesus comes, He would destroy Him. Hallelujah. And as children of God, we have already defeated the agents of the antichrist, because the Greater One is on the inside of us!

Supplementary Text

“Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them (the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.”

Prayer

Father, we thank You because the Greater One is on the inside of us and we have defeated and overcome the agents of the antichrist in Jesus name, amen.
