One coming - two outcomes!
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And
to [recompense] you who are so distressed and afflicted [by granting you]
relief and rest along with us [your fellow sufferers] when the Lord Jesus is
revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in a flame of fire, To deal out
retribution (chastisement and vengeance) upon those who do not know or perceive
or become acquainted with God, and [upon those] who ignore and refuse to obey
the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Such people will pay the penalty and
suffer the punishment of everlasting ruin (destruction and perdition) and
eternal exclusion and banishment from the presence of the Lord and from the
glory of His power,” 2 Thessalonians 1v7-9 (AMP)
John
10v10 (KJV) tells us that “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have
it more abundantly.” One reason the Son of God came was to give us the abundant
life – a rich and a satisfying life. But Jesus also gives eternal life to all
that the Father has given Him (John 17v2), and what is eternal life? In His own
words, Jesus told us “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to
perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true
and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed
One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent” (John 17v3, AMP). Eternal life is to know
God and the Lord Jesus. When our Lord Jesus Christ comes back for His own, it
will bring rest and relief for those who are even now being persecuted, but for
another group of people, those who do not know God, eternal separation from
God. One group would continue to know God and the Lord Jesus and enjoy the
fullness of that, another group to eternal damnation. The heart of our heavenly
Father is however that no one perish but all to come to repentance (2 Peter
3v9), for some would say how come Jesus has not come back all this time. Have
you been taking the promise of Jesus’ return lightly? Are you still living to
please yourself? Are you abounding in sin so that grace would abound? Are you
persecuting Christians? Beloved, repent today!
Supplementary Text
“He
isn’t really being slow about His promised return, even though it sometimes
seems that way. But He is waiting, for the good reason that He is not willing that
any should perish, and He is giving more time for sinners to repent. The day of
the Lord is surely coming, as unexpectedly as a thief, and then the heavens
will pass away with a terrible noise, and the heavenly bodies will disappear in
fire, and the earth and everything on it will be burned up. And so since
everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives we should be
living!” 2 Peter 3v9-11 (NLT)
Perhaps you desire this eternal life,
to know God and to know Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. The Bible
says:
“That if you confess with your mouth,
“Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you
believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are
saved.” Romans 10v9-10
You can say this prayer: Heavenly
Father, I come to You today, confessing that I am a sinner. I am sorry for all
that I have done and ask that You forgive me for all of my sins and cleanse me
from all unrighteousness. Lord Jesus, I ask that You be Lord and Saviour over
my life. I believe that You came to die for my sins, and that God raised You
from the dead. Thank You Father for translating me out of the kingdom of
darkness into the Kingdom of Your dear Son. Thank You for sealing me with Your
Holy Spirit of promise. Please keep me till the end in You, and may Your Name
alone be glorified in my life, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
If you said this prayer today, know
that you are now a child of God and that there is much jubilation in heaven
because of you. Begin to attend a Bible-believing church, and keep the faith!
Welcome into God’s family and enjoy the eternal and abundant life that only God
can give.
