The Father’s Honour
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Now our Lord Jesus
Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, …” 2 Thessalonians 2v16 (KJV)
Ephesians 6v2 (AMP)
says “Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother – this
is the fist commandment with a promise –“. To honor means “to regard or treat
(someone) with admiration and respect …. to give special recognition to” (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/honor?show=0&t=1413908820).
The Almighty God would have us honour our parents, to show them respect and
give them the admiration that is due to them. Many of us are where we are today
because of the parents that God blessed us with. Now, God being our Father, a
perfect One at that also means that He deserves to be honoured, and deserves
our honour. We honour Him by giving Him the respect and admiration that He is
due in our worship, our service, tithes, offerings and so on. Remember as well
that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6v19) – do you honor God with your temple? How
is the altar of your heart?
Supplementary Text
“A son honors his father,
and a servant his master. If then I am a Father, where is My honor? And if I am
a Master, where is the [reverent] fear due Me? says the Lord of hosts to you, O
priests, who despise My name. You say, How and in what way have we despised
Your name? By offering polluted food upon My altar. And you ask, How have we
polluted it and profaned you? By thinking that the table of the Lord is
contemptible and may be despised. When you [priests] offer blind [animals] for
sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and the sick, is it not
evil? Present such a thing [a blind or lame or sick animal] now to your
governor [in payment of your taxes, and see what will happen]. Will he be
pleased with you? Or will he receive you graciously? says the Lord of hosts.”
(Malachi 1v6-8, AMP)
