For the glory of His name
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“With
this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of
His calling, and that by His power He may bring to fruition your every desire
for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the
name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to
the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 1v11-12 (NIV)
….
That the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you. As a believer, at some
point our heart begins to cry out that Lord be glorified in me, have Your way
in me, be glorified in me, take Your place… I have heard it said that we are
the Bibles some people read… But the fact of the matter is that as Christians through
us, the name of the Lord can be glorified. Sometimes, it might come from a
place of intense trials. For example, we see the case of Shadrach, Meshach and
Abednego who were thrown into the fiery furnace because they would not bow down
to the golden image of the king - Nebuchadnezzar, that is they would not serve any
other but God. After God saved them in a miraculous way, it is recorded that
”Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego, who hath sent His angel and delivered His servants that trusted in
Him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they
might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. Therefore I make a
decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss
against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and
their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can
deliver after this sort. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, in the province of Babylon.” Daniel 3v28-30 (KJV). Here we see that
through their trial, God’s name was praised, proclaimed, and acknowledged as a
great deliverer. They also were promoted.
Prayer
Father,
we bless Your holy name. We pray from 2 Thessalonians 1v11-12 (AMP) that You
may deem and count us worthy of our calling and Your every gracious purpose of
goodness, and with power may complete in our every particular work of faith,
that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified and become more
glorious through and in us, and may we also be glorified in Him according to
the grace, favour and blessing of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray
this in Jesus name, amen.
