The Father’s Love

“Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, …” 2 Thessalonians 2v16 (KJV)

Beloved, we are loved of God. As children of God, He is our Father and He loves us. We have seen that He wants to give good and advantageous gifts to us, and as the Possessor of heaven and earth it is wonderful to have Him being the One who wants to give us things. Romans 8v32 (KJV) says “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” But as a Father, there are times when He also disciplines us. In fact because of love for us He disciplines us.

“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, MY SON, DESPISE NOT THOU THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN THOU ART REBUKED OF HIM: FOR WHOM THE LORD LOVETH HE CHASTENETH, AND SCOURGETH EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVETH. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Hebrews 12v5-11 (KJV)

Prayer

Father, we thank You for the love You have for us. We know that for love’s sake You chastise us. We pray for grace to endure chastisement. Lord forgive times we have despised this and pray You will continue to work with us that we may be partakers of Your holiness in Jesus name, amen.
