The Mockers

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Have you ever felt as though you crossed one road block or hurdle, only to meet with another? As the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 16v9:

“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”

Perhaps like Nehemiah, you have received favour from the king, and then you meet with the mockers. Now, Nehemiah arrived safely in Jerusalem, having received favour from the king, according to the good hand of the LORD upon him. However, when he made his intentions of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, not everyone was pleased. The Bible records that:

“But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king.

Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, He will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.” (Nehemiah 2v19-20)
Note that Tobiah, and Geshem for instance, were not Jews, and perhaps Sanballat as well. But know that if God be for you, who shall be against you? (Rom 8v31) If God has put something in your heart to do, go ahead and do it, they do not need to understand. The Dakes concordance also makes note of the fact that the name Tobiah actually means Jehovah is good. Remember, outward appearance is deceiving. Beware of those who come to you as sheep but are actually wolves in sheep clothing (Matthew 7v15). Be careful to prove your own work (Galatians 6v4). Even if people – the rich, the poor, the servant, the highly - are laughing at you or despising you, tormenting you concerning something that God has laid on your heart to do, continue, and reply like Nehemiah – The Lord will prosper me. Be encouraged in Jesus name, amen.

Have a very blessed day.

Prayer: Grant me the grace to ignore the mockers, and run with the plans you have laid out for me in Jesus name, amen.
