Quell it

Hello everybody,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His blessing, His mercies, and once again for the wisdom He gives to us so that we can live peaceful lives with our fellow brethren. One of such words of wisdom, is in the area of arguments, and quarrels, perhaps you always find yourself in the middle of big big disputes. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 17v14 that:

“Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; ...” (NIV)
“The beginning of strife is as when water first trickles [from a crack in a dam];...” (AMP)
“The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water:...” (KJV)
“Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate...” (NLT)
“Starting a quarrel is like a leak in a dam...” (New Century Version)

Perhaps you have heard someone say, I didn’t know it was going to get this bad or it really got nasty.... almost as though a process. The Bible here is telling us the beginning and the end of something which seems as little as a quarrel. Initially, it was a word said here, and said there, and all of that. Nothing too harmless it seems. But the Bible likens the starting of a quarrel to a leak in a dam. Yes the water trickles out at first, but the force of the water is going to make that hole become so big it would be hard to mend. What advice are we then given to prevent an all out dispute from happening. The 2nd part of Proverbs 17v14 tells us:

“...so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.” (NIV)
“...therefore stop contention before it becomes worse and quarrelling breaks out.” (AMP)
“...therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.” (KJV)
“..., so stop before a dispute breaks out. “ (New Living Translation)
“..., so stop it before a fight breaks out.” (New Century Version)

So people, don’t let it get too far. Stop it, before it goes too far. Stop it before things get spoilt beyond repair.

Have a very blessed day.
