Faith!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text: 1 Samuel 17v45-50
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands. And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.” 1 Samuel 17v45-50

Jesus told His disciples, “Have faith in God,” (Mark 11v22), and we know too that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11v6). What then is faith? Hebrews 11v1 tells us: “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” (NLT). The text above shows David walking in faith. He had faith that God was going to do a mighty deliverance; He spoke about it; and ran towards the victory. When the Philistine arose, David could have said, bye y’all, I’m outta here. But he didn’t. He moved in faith. Faith is trusting in God regardless of what we can see or don’t see happening. Faith is trusting in His Word and that He is all that He said He would be to us. That He is hearing us, and will back us off. Faith enables us to move. A word for thought -

Supplementary Text
“And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.” (Luke 17v5&6, KJV).

Prayer
