About Work (3)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“For
you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when
we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the
contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be
a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have a right to such
help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even
when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work
shall not eat.”” 2 Thessalonians 3v7-10 (NIV)
God
cares about everything we do, including our work. Psalm 37v5 (TLB) says “Commit
everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him to help you do it, and He will.” The
Amplified says “Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your
load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He
will bring it to pass.” God is willing and able to help you with every work you
have to do; whether it is in the ministry, work-place, home, volunteering, and
so on. In fact ultimately every work we do, we are to do as unto the Lord; the
Lord Jesus being the One we work for (Colossians 3v23-24). Proverbs 16v3 (AMP)
says “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He
will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your
plans be established and succeed.” What is it that you have to do, or want to
do? Take it to the Lord. Commit it to Him and He would cause your plans to
succeed! In fact He can help you to enjoy your work – “And, of course, it is
very good if a man has received wealth from the Lord and the good health to
enjoy it. To enjoy your work and to accept your lot in life – that is indeed a
gift from God. The person who does that will not need to look back with sorrow
on his past, for God gives him joy.” (Ecclesiastes 5v19-20, TLB).
Supplementary Text
“Lean
on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do
not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know,
recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain
your paths.” Proverbs 3v5-6 (AMP)
Prayer
Why
don’t you speak to the Lord about every work you have to do – and roll it onto
Him?
