Idle and disruptive?
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“In
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters to keep
away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according
to the teaching you received from us.” 2 Thessalonians 3v6 (NIV)
“Now
we charge you, brethren, in the name and on the authority of our Lord Jesus
Christ (the Messiah) that you withdraw and keep away from every brother (fellow
believer) who is slack in the performance of duty and is disorderly, living as
a shirker and not walking in accord with the traditions and instructions that
you have received from us.” 2 Thessalonians 3v6 (AMP)
The
Bible is explicit here that there are certain people that we should keep away
from. Yes, they may call themselves believers, but if they are being idle,
disruptive and not living in accordance to the teachings and ideals of hard
work that was given, stay away from them. One reason is seen in 1 Corinthians
15v33 (AMP) which says – “Do not
be deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt
and deprave good manners and morals and character.” Proverbs 16v27 for example talks
of idle hands and idle lips -“Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips
are his mouthpiece. An evil man sows strife; gossip separates the best of
friends. Wickedness loves company – and leads others into sin.” Proverbs
16v27-29 (TLB). Beloved, what are you doing with your hands, your life, your
mouth? Are they used as instruments of righteousness, being trained under the
Word of God, or are they let loose to cause disruption and discord among the
body of Christ?
Supplementary Text
“I
urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and
put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned.
Keep away from them.” Romans 16v17 (NIV)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for Your Word this day. I pray that if I have been idle, disruptive
and sowing discord among the brethren, please forgive me. Please help me to use
every resource and faculty and part of me for the glory of Your name in Jesus
name, amen.
