Grow in the grace of God
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“The grace (spiritual
blessing and favor) of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) be with you all. Amen (so be it).” 2 Thessalonians 3v18
(AMP)
We thank God for the
grace that He has given to us. An important thing to note is that we can grow
in grace. 2 Peter 3v18 (AMP) says “But grow in grace (undeserved favor,
spiritual strength) and recognition and knowledge and understanding of our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him [be] glory (honor, majesty, and
splendor) both now and to the day of eternity. Amen (so be it)!” How then can
we grow in grace? We can ask for it. “But Jesus the Son of God is our great
High Priest who has gone to heaven itself to help us; therefore let us never
stop trusting Him. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses since He
had the same temptations we do, though He never once gave way to them and
sinned. So let us come boldly to the very throne of God and stay there to
receive His mercy and to find grace to help us in our times of need” Hebrews
4v14-16 (TLB). So we can ask for grace to help in the different areas that we
have need of. Following from this, we can also grow in grace by exercising it –
remembering that we have God’s grace available for us and tapping into it. For
example, Paul said “But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God
I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing
(fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the
apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and
blessing) of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15v10, AMP). We therefore
see a situation of someone working the grace of God. We can also grow in grace
by knowledge – realizing through Scripture what God tells us about His grace,
and walking in that revelation.
Supplementary Text
“The law was brought
in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace
increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace
might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” Romans 5v20-21 (NIV)
Prayer
Father we thank You
for Your Word. We appreciate You. We ask that we would continue to grow in
grace in Jesus name, amen.
