Count your blessings
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Thank [God] in
everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give
thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the
Revealer and the Mediator of that will].” 1 Thessalonians 5v18 (AMP)
A popular song goes –
Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks
because He’s given Jesus Christ His Son… There are so many things that we can
give thanks to God for – the fact that we are alive and well, able to read this
email, not in the hospital, have the different parts of our bodies functioning properly,
have a roof over our heads and food to eat, we make plans and they come to pass
e.t.c. Even more importantly is the fact that we have salvation, that by the
grace of God we are saved and have hope not only in this life but also in that
which is to come. The fact that we have a God who is with us, who sees us,
hears us, helps us through the difficult situations that we face, ah, it is
enough to give God thanks for. The tragedy though is that many a times, there
are certain things that we may be looking up to God for and we now focus on
those things and forget what God has done and still continues to do. This
encouragement is just to enjoin us to look over our lives and maintain an
attitude of gratitude to the Most High, All-powerful, All-knowing and
All-present God.
Supplementary Text
When upon life’s
billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are
discouraged, thinking all is lost
Count your many
blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise
you what the Lord hath done.
Refrain
Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
Count your blessings,
see what God hath done!
Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise
you what the Lord hath done.
Are you ever burdened
with a load of care?
Does the cross seem
heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many
blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep
singing as the days go by.
When you look at
others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has
promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many
blessings – money cannot buy
Your reward in
heaven, nor your home on high
So, amid the conflict
whether great or small,
Do not be
discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many
blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give
you to your journey’s end.
Prayer
Why don’t you go on
and count your blessings….
