No more laziness and idleness
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Indeed,
we hear that some among you are disorderly [that they are passing their lives
in idleness, neglectful of duty], being busy with other people’s affairs
instead of their own and doing no work. Now we charge and exhort such persons
[as ministers in Him exhorting those] in the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)
that they work in quietness and earn their own food and other necessities.” 2
Thessalonians 3v11-12 (AMP)
“Yet
we hear that some of you are living in laziness, refusing to work, and wasting
your time in gossiping. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we appeal to such
people – we command them – to quiet down, get to work, and earn their own
living.” 2 Thessalonians 3v11-12 (TLB)
Here
again we see an exhortation to those who are lazy and idle – “they pass their
lives in idleness, neglectful of duty.” They spend their time gossiping and
concerning themselves about the business of other people. Do you find yourself
in this category? The category of one who is just lounging, looking for a free
ride, and spending your time in things that are not beneficial? It’s time to
quiet down, get to work and earn your own living. Man is on earth for just a
specified period of time, and our being here is not an accident. God has a
purpose for your life, He has plans for you and good works He would have you do
(Jeremiah 29v11, Ephesians 2v10). How do you spend your time?
Supplementary Text
“This
should be your ambition: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and
doing your own work, just as we told you before. As a result, people who are
not Christians will trust and respect you, and you will not need to depend on
others for enough money to pay your bills.” 1 Thessalonians 4v11-12 (TLB)
Prayer
Father
we thank You for Your Word. We pray for forgiveness for anyway we have been
passing our lives in laziness and idleness and not redeeming the time. We pray
that You may teach us to number our days that we might apply our hearts to
wisdom in Jesus name, amen.
