A Name Change

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.” John 1v6 (AMP)

We find that God sometimes names people even before the manifestation and fulfillment of the purpose of the name is actualized in the physical. For example, Abram (exalted father) and Sarai (princely) were given name changes to Abraham (father of a multitude) and Sarah (queen or mother of princes) respectively even before Sarah had Isaac for Abraham. However, when God spoke to him about this, Genesis 17v17-19 (AMP) records “Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a son?” Genesis 17v17 (AMP). How many of us react in this way to the promises of God – looking at our present condition and thinking how? For example, 1 John 3v1 tells us that we have been called the sons of God; but we may think really? How? I don’t feel like that. Yet God is the One who sees the end from the beginning, “Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed” (Romans 4v17, AMP). However, the Bible also tells us that Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform” (Romans 4v20-21). Beloved, I don’t know what promise of God you are holding onto, but let’s make a switch from doubt and unbelief and really believe God. Let’s get on His bandwagon and see ourselves the way He sees us and call ourselves what He calls us – whether we feel like it or not.

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for calling us Your own. Thank You for calling us sons of God. May we indeed walk in the light of this truth in Jesus name, amen.
