A Ministry of Reconciliation
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this
day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“There came a man sent
from God, whose name was John. [Mal. 3:1.] This man came to witness, that he
might testify of the Light, that all men might believe in it [adhere to it,
trust it, and rely upon it] through him.” John 1v6-7 (AMP)
Reconciliation can mean a
settlement. Synonyms for it are understanding, squaring off, resolution,
compromise, reunion, ceasefire, bringing together, and appeasement. God wants
the world to be reconciled to Him. There are many today who want nothing to do
with the Most High God, some don’t want to acknowledge His existence, others
don’t really understand who He is. But as children of God we have a
relationship with Him, and we have been given a ministry of reconciliation. 2
Corinthians 5v18-21 (AMP) says “But all things are from God, Who through Jesus
Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into
harmony with Himself] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word
and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him]. It was God
[personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor
with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but
cancelling them]; and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the
restoration to favor). So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as
it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His
sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to
God. For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that
in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and
examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and
acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].” Just as John
the Baptist came to testify of the Light, we also have Christ in us the hope of
glory, we have the Spirit of God in us and with us and the power to be
witnesses, to share the same message of reconciliation with the world.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for
reconciling us to Yourself. Help us to be effective ambassadors for You in
Jesus name, amen.
