The King of Glory (2)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this
day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Lift up your heads, O ye
gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall
come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong …” Psalm 24v7-8 (KJV)
Who is this King of
glory? He is the all-glorious God, the Possessor of heaven and earth (Genesis
14v19), the One who makes kings, and who rules in the affairs of men. He is the
One who promotes, the One who puts one up and the other down (Psalm 75v7). There
was once a king – Nebuchadnezzar – who thought that all he had was because of
who he was, but the Almighty God put him quickly in his place. We can say he
was the historical version of the people who proclaim that they are “self-made
men”. At the end of the day, he declared that the God indeed was God. Daniel
4v29-35 (KJV) says “At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the
kingdom of Babylon. The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I
have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the
honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a
voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The
kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy
dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat
grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the
most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will.
The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven
from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of
heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like
birds’ claws. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes
unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most
High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an
everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation: And all
the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and He doeth according to
His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and
none can stay His hand, or say unto Him, What doest Thou?” Beloved, let us
never fail to give the King of glory all the glory for every achievement of our
lives.
Prayer
Father we thank You for
You are good. We repent of every way we have been proud or ascribed any glory
to ourselves and we thank You for we know that every blessing that we have
comes from You. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore in Jesus name, amen.
