The King of Glory
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this
day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Lift up your heads, O ye
gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall
come in. Who is this King of glory? …” Psalm 24v7-8 (KJV)
One of the titles of our
God is the King of glory. A King is someone who reigns, rules, who has power. Synonyms
for glory include magnificence, beauty, splendor, wonder, grandeur, and
brilliance. The Bible asks who is this King of glory? I am reminded of king
Solomon whose fame spread throughout the earth that people came from far and
near to know more about him. 1 Kings 10v3-5 (TLB) says of the queen of Sheba
that “Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too difficult for him,
for the Lord gave him the right answers every time. She soon realized that
everything she had ever heard about his great wisdom was true. She also saw the
beautiful palace he had built, and when she saw the wonderful foods on his
table, the great number of servants and aides who stood around in splendid
uniforms, his cupbearers, and the many offerings he sacrificed by fire to the
Lord – well, there was no more spirit in her!” Now this is just one earthly
king – our God, the King of glory, is the maker of kings. He made king Solomon
who he was, He blessed him to have all that he had (2 Chronicles 1v11-12) and
it did not make a dent in the riches of the Almighty! He is incomparable in
riches, wealth, glory, honour, and majesty. He is the King of glory. The earth
is His and all that dwell therein (Psalm 24v1).
Prayer
Father we honour You and
we say from Daniel 2v20-22 (KJV) that “… Blessed be the name of God for ever
and ever: for wisdom and might are His: And He changeth the times and the
seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the
wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and
secret things: He knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with
Him.” King of glory blessed be Your holy name forever and ever, in Jesus name, amen.
