The Power to Witness 2

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.” Acts 1v8 (AMP)

We thank God for the Holy Spirit who empowers us to witness. Indeed we are able to witness to those close to us and around us (our own Jerusalem and Judea), to those who are not of us and in different parts (our Samaria and the whole earth). As believers, the Spirit of God is here with us and in us (John 14v17) and we can ask for more of Him. Now I know that sometimes as believers we get scared to witness. We think what would people say about me, what would they be thinking, e.t.c. But we can ask God for more power and boldness to witness, and that He should back up the things that we say with signs and wonders. In Acts 3-4, the Bible tells us how Peter and John had healed a lame man in the name of Jesus and the people were rejoicing. Afterward, they were thrown into prison and later told not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus, threatened and told to go. Peter and John later went back to their own people and told them what the chief priests and elders had said. Together they lifted up their voices to God, acknowledging Him and telling Him what the Word said. Next they prayed “And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants [full freedom] to declare Your message fearlessly, While You stretch out Your hand to cure and perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit; and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage” (Acts 4v29-31, AMP).

Prayer

Father we thank You for Your Word. Indeed You reign supreme, You reign on high, there is nothing too difficult for You. We proclaim You as our Lord, the Creator of heaven, earth, the seas and everything that is in them. Father we pray for freedom, boldness and courage to preach the Word of God. Please confirm Your Word that we preach with signs and wonders, and let all the glory be to Your holy name in Jesus name, amen.
