Life and Light

“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1v4 (NIV)

In Jesus, in the Word of God is life, and this life is the light of all mankind. When a person dies one might metaphorically say his or her light has gone out. But with Jesus we have light. Several times, this was reiterated in scripture. John 9v5 (KJV) tells us that Jesus said “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” while John 8v12 (TLB) says “Later, in one of His talks, Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. So if you follow Me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.” Light illuminates, it allows you to see clearly, it brightens a situation, and it brings understanding. If you have Jesus the Light of the world, you are able to see the world clearly, you are not stumbling through as one who does not understand the times, seasons, purpose for your existence, beginning of all life and so on. You will have light and illumination. John 12v46 (AMP) further solidifies this point by saying “I have come as a Light into the world, so that whoever believes in Me [whoever cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] may not continue to live in darkness.” Amen. We who have Christ and trust in Him totally are not in darkness anymore. In fact we have been made to be the light of the world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hid (Matthew 5v14). Child of God, is your light shining bright or is it hidden? Are you staying connected to the Light of the world, knowing that without Him you can do nothing (John 15v5)? Are you providing illumination and understanding to the world? Jesus is the Light of all mankind, the Light of the world, and we have also become the light of the world. Let us shine bright to the glory of God.

Prayer

Father we thank You for Your Word and who we are in You. We bless You for making us the light of the world. We pray that we will indeed arise and shine for our light has come and the glory of the Lord is streaming from us.
