… Minded!
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Beloved, what
“minded” are you? Are you spiritually minded or flesh oriented?
Primary
Text
“So
now we can obey God’s laws if we follow after the Holy Spirit and no
longer obey the old evil nature within us. Those
who let themselves be controlled by their lower natures live only to please
themselves, but those who follow after the Holy Spirit find themselves doing
those things that please God.” Romans 8v4-5 (TLB)
“So that the righteous and just requirement of the Law might
be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in
the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not by the standards and according
to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit]. For
those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires
set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those
who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit
set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.”
Romans 8v4-5 (AMP)
The
Dakes concordance comments that “Those who set their affections on the sins of
the flesh of Gal. 5:19-21; 1 Cor 6:9-11; Col 3:5-10; Rom. 1:29-32; Mk. 7:21-22
will naturally fulfill them (Jas 1:13-15). Those who set their affections on
the things of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23; 1 Cor. 12:4-11; Col. 3:12-14) will
naturally fulfill them and such will not commit sin…” Beloved, what are you
setting your affections on? By following after the Spirit of God, we find
ourselves setting our minds on and seeking those things which glorify God and
gratify the Holy Spirit. Let us follow after the Spirit and not live according
to the dictates of the flesh. James 1v13-15 (NLT) says “And remember, when you
are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do
wrong, and He never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires,
which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions.
And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” James 1v13-15 (NLT)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for this day. We thank You for Your Word. We thank You that by
following after the Spirit, we can truly obey God’s laws. Father, we pray for
the grace to totally follow after Your Spirit. Holy Spirit, we yield to You. We
lean on You. We rely on You. We give You full control of our lives. We pray
that we would be controlled by You and that we would set our minds on and seek
those things that please You, in Jesus name, amen.
