Hold Fast

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“So then, brethren, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions and instructions which you were taught by us, whether by our word of mouth or by letter.” 2 Thessalonians 2v15 (AMP)

Prior to this verse we are told about the lawlessness that has begun in the world, the son of lawlessness who would be revealed, and how there are those who would not believe or love the truth. However, we thank God that we heard the Good News, we believed it, we welcomed it and loved it. But now this verse encourages us to stay strong and hold fast to the traditions and teachings we have received. This is important in view of the fact that the enemy can be very deceitful and there would be false teachers and teachings. The Bible tells of the Berean Christians who “received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true” (Acts 17v11, NIV). In Judges we hear of how people did things that were right in their own eyes (Judges 21v25); but we have the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3v16-17 (AMP) says “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action). So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Is what you are hearing in line with the Word of God or just right in your own eyes? Check the Word.

Prayer
Father, we thank You for the salvation of our souls. We pray for the grace to read the Word of God and understanding of what we read in Jesus name, amen.
