Heirs
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Text
“And
if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow
heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His
suffering if we are to share His glory.” Romans 8v17 (AMP)
“And
since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we
are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share
His suffering.” Romans 8v17 (NLT)
“And
we know we are going to get what’s coming to us – an unbelievable inheritance!
We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times
with Him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with Him!”
Romans 8v17 (MSG)
“If
we are God’s children, we will receive blessings from God together with Christ.
But we must suffer as Christ suffered so that we will have glory as Christ has
glory.” Romans 8v17 (NCV)
I
remember this song we sing which says: We are heirs of the Father, we are joint
heirs with the Son, we are children of the Kingdom, we are family, we are one.
Hallelujah! Not only have we been given sonship with the Father, He expressly
states that we are His heirs as well, and joint heirs with Jesus. Basically, He
isn’t joking. He has adopted us as His own, and He gives us the full benefit
that comes with sonship. Hallelujah. Now if you are a child of God, you are
really a child of God. Now, not only do we share the benefits of being children
of God, but as bona fide children of God we also share in His sufferings. In
Philippians 3v10-11 (NIV) Paul says “I want to know
Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his
sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”
As we may have experienced in life, some who are not children of
particular parents might get away with certain things they do, but the real
children do not. As children of God therefore, we share the inheritance but
also the suffering.
Prayer
Father,
we thank You so much for this day. We thank You so much for making us heirs of
salvation. We thank You for the power to be sons of God. We pray that even as
we are joint-heirs with Christ, that we would gracefully bear His sufferings as
well in Jesus name, amen. Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit in Jesus name,
amen.
