Yay – Help!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Indeed God’s ways are not our
way, and He is so awesome in just wanting us to succeed in this race. He has
given us the Holy Spirit to teach us, comfort us, guide us, … and even to help
us pray. The Bible says that:
Primary Text
“So too the [Holy]
Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakeness; for we do not know
what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit
Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable
yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.” Romans 8v26 (AMP)
The work of the Holy
Spirit as our prayer partner is well written in this book - Touch the World
through Prayer. The author writes that:- “The Holy Spirit is
the Spirit of prayer. He prays directly, speaking with the Father and the Son.
He also prays indirectly, praying through you, the believer. It is the nature
of God the Son and God the Spirit to pray. They ever live to pray. Just as God
has ordained that you join Christ in intercession for His will to be done on
earth, so He has ordained that the Holy Spirit should enable, guide, and
empower your intercession. To say it in another startling way: God the Son is
your enthroned Prayer Partner and God the Spirit is your indwelling Prayer
Partner. Just as God the Father remains invisible to your human eyes, so God
the Spirit remains invisible. But just as surely as you can know the Fatherhood
of God and the Saviorhood of Christ, even so you can know when the Holy Spirit
is working within you. To be filled with the Spirit is to be filled with the
Spirit of intercession. When the Holy Spirit fills, prayer becomes your very
spiritual breath. The Holy Spirit loves to do within you that for which He
indwells you – to accomplish God’s will on earth. God has ordained that the
prayer of the believer is one of the major ways He accomplishes His will, so
the Holy Spirit desires to make intercession a major expression of your
spiritual life.” In particular, the Holy Spirit enables and transforms your
prayer by:- increasing your desire to pray; bringing Scripture to memory as you
pray; bringing spiritual goals to your attention e.g. the image of Christ
to deepen your desire to be more like Him; bringing needs to your attention, so
you can pray for them; placing prayer burdens on you; calling you to pray at
crisis moments in the lives of people; adding special depth, power and faith to
your prayer; wanting you to have a worldwide prayer ministry; calling you to
fast; and wanting to multiply your eternal reward (Touch the World through
Prayer, by Wesley L. Duewel, pgs. 45-50).
Prayer
Father,
we thank You so much for Your Word. We apologize in anyway we have taken for
granted our role in prayer, and ask to indeed partner with the Lord Jesus and
the Holy Spirit in prayer from henceforth. We ask for the enablement of the
Holy Spirit to do this, and pray for the grace to yield to His promptings, in
Jesus name, amen.
