Upholding me

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His goodness, His faithfulness, His lovingkindness and grace over our lives. We thank Him for He is so worthy to be praised.

The Word of the Lord says:

“If the LORD delights in a man’s ways, He makes His steps firm;
though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” Psalm 37v23-24 (NIV)

“The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and busies Himself with his every step].
Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.” Psalm 37v23-24 (Amplified Bible)

“Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37v24 (New Living Translation)

God is indeed faithful. The Bible here is telling us that for the good man, the one in whom God delights in his ways, even when they stumble, they will not be utterly cast down, for the LORD will uphold them. Some synonyms for stumble are stagger, trip, stutter, stammer, and hesitate. We can imagine some examples of stumbling in the Bible, like Abraham and Sarah, after Abraham had agreed to sleep with Hagar after he and Sarah had still not had a child (Genesis 16). Again, after he called Sarah his sister (which was somewhat true), out of fear that they will kill him because of her, and the king took her, God was still merciful, and ensured that nothing happened to Sarah, and that she was restored to Abraham (Genesis 20). After all this happened, God was still merciful, and faithful to His promise to Abraham to make him the father of many nations, and in the end they had Isaac (Genesis 21). Hallelujah. David also stumbled when he slept with Bathsheba and killed her husband, and although there grievous consequences, God still upheld him (2 Samuel 11). We even see Jesus hesitating when He was about to go to the cross,

“And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from Me: nevertheless not what I will, but what Thou wilt.” Mark 14v26

So God upholds us. He even says in 1 Corinthians 10v13 that:
“For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.” 1 Corinthians 10v13 (Amplified Bible).

Hallelujah. God is faithful. He will always give you a way of escape for every temptation… He will uphold you so that you will not utterly fall down. When you feel yourself slipping, seek the Lord, and hold on to Him, for He is there to uphold you.

Have a very blessed day.

“Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 1v24-25
