Who has the final say?
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. There is this song I like, which says – “Who has the final say, Jehovah, has the final say. Jehovah rolled the water back (*2). He has made a way, where there was no way, Jehovah rolled the water back.” Our God is the most High God, and He has the final say.
Primary Text: Lamentations 3v37
“Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?” Lamentations 3v37 (NIV)
What are some of the implications of this? It means that if God has not commanded it, or has not approved it, it would not come to pass. If God wants you there, He shall get you there. We see examples of those who exalted themselves beyond what they should. We see Pharaoh who was a god unto himself and did not want to obey God; king Nebuchadnezzar who felt he got what he had because of the might of his power; and Lucifer who wanted to be like the Highest. When God was done with them, they knew they could never ever be on the same level as He is. The implication for a child of God walking in right standing with God is however that if God is for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8v31)
Supplementary Texts
A Pharaoh example: “And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let My people go, that they may hold a feast unto Me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go…. The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is His name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath He cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.” Exodus 5v1-2; 15v3-4
A Nebuchadnezzar example: “At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will.” Daniel 4v29-32
A Lucifer example: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” Isaiah 14v12-15
Prayer
Jehovah, You are the most High, You are the most High God forever and ever, amen.
