A Goodly Influence

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. How are we helping those around us to serve God better? How can we help those around us to remain steadfast in the faith, and not turn back?

Primary Text: 2 Chronicles 14v3-5
“For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.” 2 Chronicles 14v3-5

King Asa not only commanded his people to seek the LORD GOD of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment, but he also created an enabling community for them to do so. He removed the possible instruments of temptation from around them. There are different ways in which we can encourage others to seek the Lord. We can do it by exhorting or encouraging them (Hebrews 3v13), by letting our light to shine, and through our good deeds people will glorify our Father in heaven, by instructions and corrections and testimonies.

Supplementary Texts
“You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 20v14-16 (NLT)

“I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done. For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.” Psalm 78v2-8

“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on Him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.” John 4v39

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word. I pray that I will indeed shine as a light in this generation, and those to come, and that all the glory will be to Your holy name in Jesus name, amen.
