Without the true God
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. A verse in the Bible that says that “A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead.” (Proverbs 21v16, NIV).
Primary Text: 2 Chronicles 15v3-7
“For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them. In those days it was not safe to travel about, for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. One nation was being crushed by another and one city by another, because God was troubling them with every kind of distress. But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15v3-7 (NIV)
At a point, or points in time, Israel who had a God, was without the true God. And we know that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9v10). In a way, they had wandered out of the way of understanding, out of the right path, and out of the protective care of God. For us today, there may be things that would entice us to come out of the path of righteousness. Things that pull us to do things in an ungodly manner. But like Israel, we may find that these alternate paths lead to every kind of distress. The different between troubles faced with God and without God, is that without the true God, you become a pawn in the hands of the devil – a true recipe for disaster. But with God, we are more than conquerors, through Him who loved us (Romans 8v37).
Supplementary Texts
“[Their chastisement will continue until it has accomplished its purpose] for My people are stupid, says the Lord [replying to Jeremiah]; they do not know and understand Me. They are thickheaded children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge [and know not how].” Jeremiah 4v22 (AMP)
“Your words have been stout against Me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered. Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought about His name. And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” Malachi 3v13-18 (KJV)
