The Results of a Godly Intervention
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Our God is great and greatly to be praised. We can call upon Him, who is worthy to be praised, and be saved from our enemies. Hallelujah. We see this resultant victory in the life of king Asa, when he cried out to God after facing an army that was larger than his.
Primary Text: 2 Chronicles 14v11-15
“Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, “LORD, there is no one like You to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on You, and in Your name we have come against this vast army. O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against you. The LORD struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled, and Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar. Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were crushed before the LORD and His forces. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder. They destroyed all the villages around Gerar, for the terror of the LORD had fallen upon them. They plundered all these villages, since there was much booty there. They also attacked the camps of the herdsmen and carried off droves of sheep and goats and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.” 2 Chronicles 14v11-15 (NIV)
As a result of king Asa’s dependence on God, and calling out to God, God fought for them, and they took great spoil. Not only was the enemy defeated, but they had much booty to show for the triumph.
Supplementary Texts
“It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle… And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. … And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not Thou God in heaven? and rulest not Thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in Thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand Thee?
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe His prophets, so shall ye prosper… And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.” 2 Chronicles 20v1,3,6, 20, 22-25
Prayer
Father, thank You for making us to rejoice over our enemies in Jesus name, amen.
