Relating with One Another
Hello everybody,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God again for all His creation, for people, for fellowship, relationship, love… The Bible tells us:
Primary Text: Ephesians 4v31-32
“Do not be bitter or angry or say things to hurt others. Never do anything evil. Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.” Ephesians 4v31-32 (NCV)
Another verse of Scripture that comes to mind is that which says – “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12v21, KJV). There could be any number of reasons why people might hurt us or be mean to us. But what is our reaction to them. Ephesians 4v31-32 is asking us not to be bitter or angry or say things to hurt others. We can take a pause, take a deep breath, ask for help from the Holy Spirit. Be slow to speak, quick to listen and slow to anger (James ). “Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.” (Romans 12v14, KJV). Another Scripture that comes to mind is 1 Corinthians 14v20, and the Amplified version says – “Brethren, do not be children [immature] in your thinking; continue to be babes in [matters of] evil, but in your minds be mature [men].” Another version says be children in malice but men in understanding. Don’t be quick to get angry, try to see where others are coming from. And remember too that the war we fight is not against flesh and blood.
Supplementary Text:
“Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and weep with those who weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief]. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to [people, things] and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits. Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is honest and proper and noble [aiming to be above reproach] in the sight of everyone. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12v15-18 (AMP)
Prayer Point
Father, we thank You so much for this day, and we thank You for Your goodness. We pray Lord that You will make us to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men in Jesus name, amen.
