Is Christ divided?
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His goodness, His faithfulness, His lovingkindness and tendermercies. Paul,
continuing his letter to the Corinthians, after hearing that there were
divisions among them that:
Primary Text
“Is
Christ (the Messiah) divided into parts? …” 1 Corinthians 1v13 (AMP)
“Is
Christ divided?...” 1 Corinthians 1v13 (NIV)
“Has
Christ been divided into factions?...” 1 Corinthians 1v13 (NLT)
“I
ask you, “Has the Messiah been chopped up in little pieces so we can each have
a relic all our own? …” 1 Corinthians 1v13 (MSG)
What
an interesting question? What could it mean? Could there be different parts to
the Lord, where we each pick and choose what we want to believe or what part of
the Lord is important? Is Christ divided? Christ is the head of the church
which is the body? Should Christ’s body be divided? 1 Corinthians 1v10 (AMP)
says “But I urge and entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that all of you be in perfect harmony and full agreement in what you
say, and that there be no dissensions or factions or divisions among you, but
that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions
and judgments.”
Supplementary Text
“[There
is] one body and one Spirit – just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to
the calling you received – [There is] one Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God
and Father of [us] all, Who is above all [Sovereign over all], pervading all
and [living] in [us] all.” Ephesians 1v4-6 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word this day. We thank You for Jesus, and for the body
of Christ. Father we pray that You will bring down every division in the church
and that even as individuals, You will help us to look always to You and not to
any man, in Jesus name, amen.
