A frustration
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“For
the story and message of the cross is sheer absurdity and folly to those who
are perishing and on their way to perdition, but to us who are being saved it
is the [manifestation of] the power of God. For it is written, I will baffle
and render useless and destroy the learning of the learned and the philosophy
of the philosophers and the cleverness of the clever and the discernment of the
discerning; I will frustrate and nullify [them] and bring [them] to nothing.” 1
Corinthians 1v18-19 (AMP)
Imagine
a learned person trying to explain the message of the Cross with all the wisdom
and knowledge he or she might have gained over the years? Or perhaps the philosopher
to use their own philosophy to interpret the message of the Cross. It would
probably be quite frustrating for them, as 1 Corinthians 1v19 above tells us. As
one song goes:
Verse 1: How shall I begin, to speak about a God
that I will never comprehend
So High and Mighty, and yet closer than a friend,
the beginning and the end
The mystery of His Holiness, the wonder of His
humanness are
Chorus: One, one and the same, I can't do Him
justice with any one name
The Holy God of Heaven, and the humble Man who
bore my shame
Are one, one and the same
I scarcely understand, how a simple servant can be
called the Great I Am
How the Son of God, Is still the Son of man, both
the Shepherd and the Lamb
The Healer and the Wounded One, the Father and the
only Son are
The way that we can come to know, the truth that
sets us free
The Life that died and rose again, love revealed…

Supplementary Text
“Where
is the wise man (the philosopher)? Where is the scribe (the scholar)? Where is
the investigator (the logician, the debater) of this present time and age? Has
not God shown up the nonsense and the folly of this world’s wisdom? For when
the world with all its earthly wisdom failed to perceive and recognize and know
God by means of its own philosophy, God in His wisdom was pleased through the
foolishness of preaching [salvation, procured by Christ and to be had through
Him], to save those who believed (who clung to and trusted in and relied on
Him).” 1 Corinthians 1v20&21 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your wisdom and the salvation of our souls. We love and
appreciate You. We pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the
knowledge of You, that we may come to know You more. We pray for those who do
not know You, that You will send labourers to them, and that the light of the
gospel will shine into their hearts in Jesus name, amen.
