His Wisdom (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? Happy Sunday.

Primary Text
For when the world with all its earthly wisdom failed to perceive and recognize and know God by means of its own philosophy, God in His wisdom was pleased through the foolishness of preaching [salvation, procured by Christ and to be had through Him], to save those who believed (who clung to and trusted in and relied on Him).” 1 Corinthians 1v21 (AMP)

Interesting verse. The wisdom of this world could not perceive, or recognize, or know God by means of its own philosophy. The wisdom of this world cannot enable a person to come to know God. 1 Corinthians 2v13-14 (NLT) says “When we tell you these things, we do not use words from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.” When the world couldn’t know God through its own wisdom, God used His own wisdom to save those who believed through the foolishness of preaching. Hallelujah. Imagine going to meet someone with the gospel, and they just think it is silly. But that is the power of God unto salvation to those who believe.

Supplementary Text
“Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to His eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” Ephesians 3v8-12 (NIV)

Prayer
Father, the only wise God, King of kings, and Lord of lords, Lord of the harvest, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the salvation of our souls. We thank You for the gospel. We pray Father, Lord of the harvest, for those who do not know You, that You will send laborers to them in Jesus name, amen. We pray that You will draw them to Yourself, and we pray that every blindness of mind be removed that they may receive the light of the gospel and by believing and accepting Jesus into their hearts, they might be saved. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

  1. Our wisdom comes from our experience, and our experience comes from our foolishness. See the link below for more info.
